Okay, I need advise or opinions rather.

I purchased a Tomes Scagel bowie, and, with all intentions of using it. But over the last couple of days, have been having doubts as to wether I should or not.

The knife would be my primary 'pack' knife alongside a smaller tomes scagel as a general purpose. It has an 8" blade of 52100. Pic courtesy of Nordic Knives.

What would you do?

If you normally use knives that large, then use it. Display it when you're not using it.

Guy, I know I sent you PJ's information, and if you asked him I know what he would tell you, "Use it!" As beautiful as that knife is you won't know the true beauty of it until you do use it. If that was a real Scagel, I might have different feelinfs about it, but even then if you bought it to use I would say use it.

All of my most expensive knives have been used.

Use it, carry it. Enjoy it.
Those won't be scratches, they'll be character marks.
Each with a story to tell.
BTW, I've seen PhilL's Fowler. He does use it.
There shouldn't be anything wrong with responsible use!

I believe that you should use it. With my Fowler, if it gets scratched up and I want to getit looking new again, I will just send it to Ed have him re-finish the blade.
