I just won an auction on ebay for a Benchmade Mini-Darkstar NIB, for $55. I played with one at the knife store and i really liked it (of course they wanted $140 for it). The one i won on ebay is a special knife of the month Aug. 2000 speical make, with blue liners. It was limited to 1000 made. I dont know if that makes it a collectable or if its ok for me to use as a EDC. I'd rather not mess up something thats collectable, so i figured i would ask you guys and see what you say.

1000 is a pretty large number and i doubt that the value of the knife will really go up any time soon, maybe like in 20 years it might be, but think about it you bought it for 55, so i guess it's not exactly a hot item at the moment

pardon me for a moment, i have to go bang my head off a wall cause i'm dumb, i'll be right back honost

The answer is simple, and depends on what you bought the knife for. If you bought the knife intending to admire it, then resell it for profit, then don't use it! If you bought the knife intending to keep it, and because you thought it would make an effective tool for EDC, then use it! I have several knives I purchased to admire and eventually resell, such as limited edition Microtech autos. I dare not carry them, as doing so is a crime where I live. These knives, will not be used. However, my equally expensive Sebenza, I know I would not likely be able to sell for a profit, and I have no intention of selling it anyway, because it's legal to carry here, and meets my EDC needs perfectly, so I have no problem with carrying and using it. The same applies to your Darkstar, if it's suitable for your EDC needs, and you don't forsee being able to profit from it's sale anytime soon, then don't worry about using it!
