To use, or not to use...

I got a 3-OT from James Todd's contest recently. Absolutely mint, clampacked, perfect.

Too perfect, for it gives me a quandary. To use or to store?

On one hand, it's mint. It should stay that way.

On the other hand, though... it's mint. A perfect example, made by a master cutler in Ellenville to be put to work.

What says the forum?

Uncle Henry's were meant to be used, especially ones from the good old USA.
Glad you got it.
James
PS: Don't forget to send in for your five dollar rebate.:D

Dude, knives were made for one reason.... to be used. Not to be kept, protected, or put in a safe. They are only valuable when used. Use it, bro.

I'd save it NICP (New In Clam-Pack) unless I had a duplicate already set aside.

Nothing wrong with using it if you want to though. :)

I'm with Bob if you have one like it or very simular keep it mint. If not crack it open and use.

If you just can't use it send it to me and I'll report back on how things are going.!?

Use it. It's a tool not an action figure. Letting it sit in a sealed package is cruel.

Sometimes I get a rare expensive knife and I think the same thing. But really what is the point unless you plan on selling it later. If you really like the knife use it and be happy.

On second thought, use the heck out of it. Even abuse it if you can, purposefully breaking the blades and handles. Then buy every single NIB/mint USA Old Timer on eBay and do the same thing. Don't stop breaking/scratching/sharpening those genuine Old Timers!

Then my collection will be worth a fortune! :D

Use it.
When slicing through an apple tomorrow, just keep telling yourself, "top of the food chain, baby. Top of the food chain!"

Get it to work!
If you can't face doing that, you can move it on to me I'd LIKE to use it!

Heck, it's going to work. Aside from ultra-rare knives, there isn't a knife in my collection that's sacred. Even my 100+ year-old great-great-grandfather's stockman has gone for a ride or two. :)

Not to knock the safe queen people but I think knives should be used. Seems a shame for that fine workmanship to be locked away for nobody to see and enjoy. Just my 2 cents.........
