Hey guys got a problem, not a big one more like a dilemma:)
I bought (stole:D) a new condition Reinhardt kukri (not the combat kukri) the day after xmas,. I had intended it to be a user from day one as I am not a collector ,I'm a user. This is in perfect condition in every way, blade, tip, sheath all perfect. I'll get some pics up soon.

Would I be out my damn mind to use this beautiful knife?

If it was mine, I'd use it. No safe queens here all users like you. Don't see why you should start now. A good knife is a good knife and should be used IMO. Take lots of it in New condition, then use it a ton and take more pictures.

I feel that a used knife is worth more because you know that it can handle what you need it to. But an unused knife since it's never been tested you don't know if it has a defect. When ever I get a new knife I test it to make sure it will work for me in the field. Even if I never plan on using it again, it gets tests, cleaned and put away. That way if the "just incase" happens I know I can count on that knife. :) Thats my thinking. Hope it gives you something to consider. And IMO the Khukri was ment to be used. ;)

Well for the 100 bucks I spent, I think I'll use it. First thing in the AM I am going to use it:cool:, and then fit it for a kydex sheath:thumbup:.

I'll take before and after pics.

Good for you, I look forward to the pictures. Also please tell us how you like it after using it. :)

Done deal, WOW. Ethan, I believe that is does cut like a banshee in a bad mood! Glad to be off the fence! I'll post a link later to the pics.

Knives are like lovers with low self-esteem. The more you use and abuse them, the more they'll love you and stand by you. :D

Nice Pics Josh...

It is a screamer isn't it......I have not had a good workout with mine in quite a while....Thanks for inspiring me, I am gonna dig mine out and have a little memorial service......A GREAT blade design from the mind of a master....

All Best...

This knife is going to keep my trail up keep fun in the spring. I really enjoy this blade, maybe a tad to much.

Does anyone know if the blanks being sold on ebay are legit? They claim to be from camillus and one seller claims his are Bk&T reinhardt blanks. If you do a general search for camillus machete they will all pop up.

I'm going to go with a no, I could be wrong...it's happened before once.

I checked them out and they apear to be Blanks for Cold Steel Kukris which Camillus used to make. "With Exclusive HIGH CARBON STEEL (0170-6C) unground Gurkha Kukri blade" which sounds like Cold Steel to me.

Now back on topic:

Josh, thanks for the pictures! Looks like it will work well for you. I don't think you can like using it to much. But if you do and want to part with it to save your self or it, I'll happily take it off your hands. ;) But seriously, Enjoy!!

use it, use it, use it. mine doesn't look it, but had serious use for several years. scotch brite and oil keeps them happy.

just beware chopping xmas trees near the knots (there's a post around here of someone breaking a khukri this way). even a heavy axe on hemlock knots strikes sparks and they are HARD due to the minerals/silica in the lignum. dang! i had to hammer straighten an axe head once.
