Hello all Long time browser first time posting.

My Delima is that I have # 87 of the BK-12 A.K.A the Ritter Becker MK-2 Perseverance.

My first question is apparent. Should I use the numbered first run knife or save it and buy another for use?

Secondly i was curious if I did in fact use it would the laser engraving survive use?

afaik, the laser burned into the metal some, so it should.

course, BH#87 might want it...

but if you can afford a second gen, buy that, use it...

or buy a BK10 and use that...

or well, i dunno :)

but congrats on having one :>

i should get a second someday. i imagine someone will have some for sale in the future.

me? i am not using the first one i have. esp since it is #4 and has my number :>

It was built to be used. I don't think Ethan or Rowen want their knives to be safe queens. I say use the hell out of it, but then again I would refuse to buy a knife for its collector's value.

Just my opinion, YMMV.

Here's an idea, search for the junglas mod (someone help me out with his user name) he shows how you can use an engraving solution to etch laser markings into the steel. My advice. Do that mod, then strip it and use it. It wasn't made to look at, make her beg for more

I've never had a safe Queena nd never will. Look at it utill you can't anymore and then use the heck out of it. You will feel better for it, trust me! I would never buy a knife I can't use! Do it! Do it!

It's a good idea to ask Beckerhead #87 first, but otherwise I'd check auction sites maybe to see if they're selling for much but otherwise cut some stuff with it.

Do what you want to do. If you don’t feel good about using it, then keep it nice for a little while longer, and then use it HARD when you get bored with staring at it. Remember, Becker knives work for a living.

Welcome to the forums by the way!

87 etched into the metal there? That's a structural weakness in the metal. You should send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly. :D
I love these knives. Since day 1, though I've never been able to justify buying one. I personally would keep it mint, although I'd feel I let it down.

I looked at that mod clich talk about and that is insanely awesome. I'm currently moving to a love with a big garage and a shop in the back yard so I may have the time and room to try that. On another note bladeite, are there and bk10's out there for sale besides auctions and the BH run I've admired that knife for a while now.

i believe mines called magnum.......

no that is my sister the photographers idea of one of those artsy crackwhore pics. ya know, the ones you see in magazines about the red light districts in europe that should bone thin women hanging outta windows smoking cigarettes. her idea for her portfolio
