To wave or not to wave?

Looking to pick up another CQC-7. This knife was the only one I have owned that I truly felt like I could beat the hell out of and not only could take it, but not feel bad about it. Funny thing is, I really don't care for tanto blades except for this particular knife. I have only owned waved Emerson's in the past. This won't be a self defense knife but more of an EDC/general purpose knife. So what say you - wave or no wave?

If you have the option i'd get it -- added utility with no real drawbacks. If not its no big deal, Emerson's thumbstuds (disks) are the best on the market IMO.

None of my knives are ever used for "self defense" so I tend to just open them with the disks. The wave is cool if you need it but its double harsh on your pockets to be using it all the time.

I love mine with the wave. If you have had the wave before, how can you not love it? What would be your reasoning behind getting it without?

I've never had much luck using the wave on mine to open bottles. It seems that the waves on mine were a little too rounded to make a firm purchase on the rim of the bottlecaps. My CQC-10 worked best when I had it, though it didn't always work in one go - ended up prying the rim of the cap as opposed to popping it off. My CQC-11 wasn't so great at that, and the Super Karambit was a lost cause.

Guess it works better if you have a smaller model with a sharper wave.
