Saw one of these local in Bangor. It is £80!!! The blade is 8a steel. I have to ask the question, being a Spydie nut. Why so expensive? Poorish steel and tiny= massive price! Why is this? Even the Knifecenter asks $69.99 for it.

Hi General. AUS-8 (8A) is really a good steel. It's not a exotic steel (which would have raised the price even more).

All of the same processes are there in a small knife. The cost of a knife is in labor. Material costs are not that much until you get into exotic steels.

I just purchased a serrated Toad, what a great little knife- built like a tank too. Get one, I don't think you will be dissapointed- if you are let me know and I'll buy it back.
 
I carry my Toad everyday. Plain edge,and you are right,it's built like a tank.
Mine has been opened thousands of times and still is tight as new.
It sharpens and holds it's edge very well too.

I have a toad in my collection. I thought it would make a good daily carry knife due to its small size; however, I personally found it difficult to open easily with one hand. Maybe it's just my hand but I can't seem to thumb it open efficiently. Or maybe I need more practice.

Just practice a bit.
My Toad is like a worry stone. I open it and close with extreme ease. Sometimes, I don't even know I'm doing it.
The bad thing about the Toad is it simply will not work for left-handers.

I realize the Toad is not some kind of "defense knife" or useful for some kind of large cutting task. (But it would make quick work of a stuck seat belt in an emergency!) However, I do carry mine every day clipped to my left front pocket. A much larger knife (like a Delica) is clipped to my right front pocket. I have a feeling that a lot of us carry more than one knife. Counting the small Swiss Army Knife, I carry three!
