Tripped across a Toad NIB at a local pawn shop, and wondered if it was worth picking up.

He is asking 95.00 for it ... upon handling it I became intrigued, and so I went home and googled it, and found out they are rare ...

So ... is it worth my hard earned cash to pick up a new Toad for $95 before it gets away?

Thanks in advance.

There's one NIB on Ebay for approx. $170.00... If you want it, get it, sounds like a fair deal on a discontinued model.

MSRP on them ten years ago was $105. Very limited collector interest, very limited user interest. Might want to see if anyone bites at the two on eBay before considering $170 to be realistic. My money would be on both listings ending without a sale.

As I said on the Spyderco Forum, if you think it's a neat little knife and want it for yourself, then by all means get it. If you're looking at it strictly as an investment, my advice would be to pass.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Thanks Deacon, I did see your reply on the SpyderForum, appreciate that.

I wouldn't buy it just to sell it, so I guess I have to decide how much I like it ...

Thanks again.

You could always try to haggle with the Pawn Shop owner as well.
I would personally not pay that much for a Toad, but I did pay $80 for a CF cricket which is similar in size.

you could probably get the pawn shop down to about 70-75 since I am guessing they are not going to have a lot of people come in and drop close to 100 on such a small knife.

Unless it's the plain edge, not worth investing in. Spyder edge version isn't really sought after.

If it is the plain edge I'll buy it from you for $100. Now all you have to figure out is if you can talk them down enough to make it worth it to you. Send me an email if you want to take me up on this.
