My new Toby's Knife version 2.0 has arrived! A little back story to bore you with
I wanted to get a knife from John that could be an all around knife while up at my property, whether it be for hunting, fishing, food prep or just bushcrafting around. I love John's Kephart but I've found it was bigger than I needed for almost everything I used it for and the lack of a serious point on the blade made certain chores such as cleaning fish/game or food prep a bit difficult. So I wanted something smaller with some tip to it, in comes the Toby's Knife. I love size and the blade profile of the TK but I wanted something a little different on the handle profile. I wanted something with some swell on the end, something like a lot of the sodbusters knives have. So I sent John one of my favorite sodbuster patterns, the Great Eastern Cutlery Bullnose work knife to use as a pattern on the handle. Originally I had wanted to use some sort of burlap micarta liners but it's impossible to find. I started thinking that it would be really cool to go with something a bit different than I've seen on fixed blades, brass liners. This would match the liners to the brass pin and lanyard hole giving it a classy old school/traditional look. I asked John if he could work with brass for liners and he said send him the brass and he will see what he can do. Well, he did it alright and it's beautiful!! I couldn't be happier with this little blade and I can't wait to get her out and about! Thanks John, you knocked this out of the park:thumbup:
