I bought a colt buck shot paten slip joint . For very little money . I was.t expecting much because of colts rep . But it as bone scales with brass liners . And silver + nickel bolsters . 440a steel with a 2 1/2 in blade . and even tho its made in china its really nicely made . So what do you think of colt knives .

I've got three of them in amber bonestag (at least I don't think it is). I think they are very good knives for the money. I have a canoe, a large trapper like the one you show and a teardrop.

Haven't seen a Colt first hand.
I wonder if they are made in the same factory that makes Rough Rider? Even though these knives are made overseas they are a great value for quality vs. price.

I was looking at that very knife about 18 months ago and thinking it looked pretty nice.

There's a whole thread somewhere here about Rough Riders, Colts, CRKT Traditions, etc.

I got this almost two years ago and have carried it a lot. It has seen some pretty good work as I use it a great deal to help fit and trim the moldings I was using on a kitchen remodel. It also did a lot of the other mundane chores like opening boxes, sharpening pencils, cutting banding materials, etc. I bought it to try out the pattern, and I love it. I like the knife enough that I don't feel a need to buy another one in that same pattern.

I holds an edge quite well. The fit/finish and walk and talk were as good as it gets. I know they aren't all this way, but I purchased this knife based on what I had read here about their quality and certainly wasn't disappointed. I would have been pleased with this knife if I had spent
$100 on it, so you can imagine how happy I am at the knife's price. It is a handful of solid knife.

The only two things that have changed about this knife since I bought it is that the checkering (the pic is of the knife when it was new) has worn a bit and is now no longer razor sharp, which is good. Also, the etch on the blade (which isn't as garish as in person) had a gold banner on it which I was able to rub off with just a bit of compound.

This is the only COLT I own but I wouldn't give purchasing one a second thought if I saw a pattern I "needed".
