It's Taco Tuesday! Hoorayyyyyyy! Who doesn't love tacos amirite?
It's also the 20th Anniversary of BladeForums.com
It's been an interesting couple of decades, to put it mildly. We've seen dramatic changes in the industry with companies coming & going - historic institutions like Camillus & Schrade fading out then returning under new ownership. Custom knifemakers harnessing the magic of modern CNC to become their own mid-tech powerhouses. Knifemaking has hit the mainstream with multiple shows on cable TV, and forums members like @Big Chris turning into viral internet sensations through blade sports.
On these very forums, people have gone from sketching designs in high school to becoming world reknowned knifemakers & designers for knife manufacturers. Manufacturers like Spyderco have shown that you can experiment with Sprint Runs of exotic steels & materials and the user base will not only gobble up everything they can get their hands on, but provide near real-time feedback of how it performs under all sorts of conditions. The forums remain the single best source for information & end user reviews out there.
I'm not a fan of tooting my own horn, so I'm going to firmly put the credit for this on the shoulders of you, the members of the community. Thank you so much for being a part of this circus, and I hope that you guys continue to keep things festive for another 2 decades.
In conclusion, thank you, and let's lift a glass for those who are no longer with us:
Kit Carson, Walt Welch, Jim Mattis, Dave (Vampire Gerbil), Rob Simonich, Warren Osborne, Bob Loveless, and many more. We miss you.
