We have our grandaughters this week, so we decided to take them to Little Red Schoolhouse, and then for a short hike (1 mile.) Here are my hiking partners.

Of course, the first thing we see is a snake, right by the schoolhouse steps.

When we started on our hike we came across this tiny frog.

Here are some pictures from our hike.

Small pond.

Old dead oak tree standing all alone.

If you look close you can see a small cave in the center of the photo

A "treasure" the girls found.

Two tired little girls at the end of the hike, but they had fun!

Very cool. You can't get enough days like that.

You can track them by the droppings, aka; Elf Fudge and the smell of baking cookies. But Elf season doesn't start until Fall. Cute kids! I love taking my kids on walks and tell them to keep an eye out for elves and pixies. My daughter used to watch for "Dorfs" as in Snow White and the Seven Dorfs. They also love to round up acorns and catch toads...priceless!

Good stuff, those are some good hiking buddies. I think I've got some sunglasses like those laying around...

Nice shots, we just took our Grand Kids home after having them for a week. When all is said and done, family is all you really have, treasure every minute of it.:) Since I was a very small child I have made the most of family time. I have a wonderful family. Thank You Lord.

I remember as a kid going on field trips to the Little Red School House. I fish Maple Lake nearbye every other weekend and dayhike there often. I grew up just a few miles from Maple Lake.
Looks like the grandchildren had a great time! Nice to see garter snakes!

Did you ever see the "glowing floating ball" at Maple Lake? Supposed to be haunted.

Great shots, John.

Looks like a nice hike, and a fun outing with the grandkids. Did you check out that cave?

All the best,

- Mike

Great stuff. I sure miss having kids that age in the house, and my grandkids are too far away to come by for that sort of thing more than once or twice a year. Looks like a fun outing.

That's just my night fishing, battery operated lighted slip bobber. Apparently it freaks out the late night party crowd on the wall!

I use to go to maple lake and fish with my father miss those days a lot didnt go very often but had ablast when we did. Little red school house was cool place when your a kid felt like you where in a giant forest . Hope some day to take my grandkids to both places .
