The weahter was back to OK again for the time of the year. The last few days were just too hot for what we're used to over here. A solid 26-27°C today, with a slight breeze. That's all we wanted in the first place . No need for a couple of days of 35°C+ in between, pff.
Anyway, my father-in-law (well sorta, the dad of my girlfriend since almost 7 years) has bought a pond a couple of years ago where he goes during the weekends to fish. We retreated there for a day to chill, relax, enjoy the weather and good company.
It was a day filled with pretty much all a guy wants.

Bow shooting...

Fishing for carp...

Swimming in a nearby river...

BBQ...

Thrashing up some cattail (Typha)...

Got to fish, swim, play with some knives, have good food, nice weather and awesome company. These are the days we live for

I can see you guys wholeheartedly agree with me! Well it was a ggood day indeed, else I wouldn't have posted it. The diet Coke should have been a beer though. That would have topped it all off.

I'm reviving my own thread, because why not. Another awesome day at the pond, so the pics go here. Lots of knife fun. Used the 20 to clear a ton of weeds and had a lot of fun destroying the cattail again.
The 5 helped a lot with the bbq, but I didn't take any pic cause my hands were a bit greasy for the camera while doing the food prep.

Without further ado...

This Kershaw came along for some fun as well..

Just thought I'd share.
I hope we can continue to visit this place. My parents in law bought it some five years ago or something. And all of a sudden, authorities sent them a letter that the wooden house, the pond, car port,... are all in violation of the building code since they're built on rural land. But they bought it the way it was... So there's some shirts legal time ahead of them. Hope it turns out well 'cause it's a nice place to go and relax.

Hope ya' ll enjoyed the new pics.

Nice selection of knives, and nice surroundings. What sort of fish live in the pond? What are they like to eat?

Yeah the 20 is pretty neat. I still don't have the hang of it. It always flinches away, and doesn't take green stuff down as easily as my 9. Maybe it's me, maybe the grind, I dunno... More learning ahead.

necro reboot

Can't we call it a 'two year update with new pics' :D

Underrated species.....there are some really good carp recipes and prep methods out there (can't make gefilte fish with out carp) but definitely, if you don't do it right, you'll be left with a bad taste in your mouth. I used to cut it up in chunks (discarding the dark meat), brine it and then fry it. It was pretty damned good....
