Today is the beginning of National Parks Week in the USA. I was at Moormans River in Shenandoah National Park.

Cool. I saw the NPS announcement. I guess I should scoot on up to Yellowstone for a day's outing.

Annual National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is only $80 until you turn 62 at which time you can get a lifetime pass for $10. Every April I buy an Annual National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass and an Annual Virginia State Parks Pass. I spend enough time in the parks and recreational areas, a pass is the cheapest route for me. Just thus far this month, I'd have already spent $27 for entrance into National Parks. If I'm lucky enough to live seven more years, I'll be fully retired and get my $10 lifetime pass and spend even more time in our National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands. These lands are a treasure and have been set aside to be enjoyed.

Looks like it was a nice day for it.

This is off topic, but figured I'd say something.. Saw in the Maple Syrup thread that you had been to the Maple Festival this year. Whereabouts are you from? I'm just a few miles North of Monterey. Got to help make some Maple doughnuts for the Mill Gap Ruritans on the first Saturday of the Festival as well. :)

I live in Fredericksburg. An old Army buddy and dear friend for the last 20+ years splits his time between homes in Charlottesville (weekdays) and Churchville (weekends). He grew up in Augusta County. He and his wife invited me and my wife to join them. Stood in line, bought a dozen maple doughnuts, ate three, had a gut attack and sugar high (they were that good), then gave the rest to my buddy.

Cool. The line for doughnuts is pretty crazy most of the time. We were only supposed to be helping from 7-10 but it ended up being 11:45 before we got out of there because we got so far behind haha.
