I know you guys are about sick of hearing about my auction bargains. But I am real pleased about todays haul. I bid $160 on a Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw and it went for $170. I am still very upset about that. That is worth some major cash. I did get an American made Dayton horizontal bandsaw with a bunch of blades for $55 though! Graingers has the same saw, but newer, for $1025.
I got this forge for $1. I called it a forge and everyone corrected me like I committed a sin and said it was a heat treat oven. Kinda rough but I figured the electric blower was worth a buck. Can't figure out where you would put gas.
I got a couple boxes full of mill tooling for $30 and a tow bar for $1. Also bought a box full of 3M 1"X 74 1/4" belts for $8. I think I am going to try to make a KMG clone for 1" just to have around since I have a large supply of belts now.
This auction was the estate of a machinist and it was awesome. They said that the guy was the head machinist that built the Enola Gay. Wish I had a large shop so I could have bought more. A lathe bigger than my truck with all kinds of tooling and 3 or 4 huge chucks went for $200. A slightly smaller one went for $175. An ancient Brown and Sharp mill went for $20. Lincoln 185 amp arc with a welding table and all kinds of stuff went for $60. A 220 bandsaw blade welder went for $90. The guy that bought it told me he would have no problem getting $2500 for it. I figured he was full of it but a completely different guy said the same thing later.
I am done with auctions for a while I think. At least I won't post any more about them for a while.
