Well I decided to take a little get away today, a day trip. Weather was very windy and 50 degrees was the high. I was more or less going for fun and to enjoy the outdoors but I ended up finding a few little “treasures” along the way. Anyway the Bussekin blade is a B-11 carried in a LMIW sheath that has a lot of stuff inside of it. On a side note, I thought I was going to see how the Bussekin worked on live dog flesh as a couple lab mixes decided to jump out of some woods—they finally backed off thank the Lord.
Here is a shot of the local lake. The lake is way down due to drought and an issue the state is working on.
Not too far in the walk I decided I wanted a good walking/fending stick. So the B-11 came out and not too many whacks I had a nice thick stick.
Not too far into the track I found a heads up penny lying in the path. I think the penny had been there for a while, but was dated 1983, so not a “real” find so to speak.
One of the “finds” that I was happily looking for was rose rocks. From what I understand the rose rock only occurs in the US (Oklahoma) and maybe Israel. I hunted the rose rocks when I was a kid with my Granny and PaPa. I remember finding a lot bigger rose rocks, so maybe I will go back in the near future and look for some more. In this pic you can see sometimes they are by their self.
Here is a pic of the days haul.
A close up of the good keepers.
Here is a few pics of the blade, other stuff, sheath, etc. The sheath is from LMIW, it has been reviewed here before. I will say that I really like this sheath. I rigged a few pieces of para cord through the top loops and took a rifle case sling and made a poor-mans Baldric rig. Worked really well for todays walk-a-bout. Inside the pouches I have 2 Altoid cans, 1) fire-starting kit, matches, fatwood slivers, and small fishing kit; 2) small PSK with meds, Band-Aids, cleaners, ointment. You will see a small pry tool that is wrapped in para cord for whatever reason, a small SAK knife for menial tasks, a three blade Kabar knife that my father bought me the day I was born, and a fiesteel rod. Inside the pouch there is a kydex liner that is wrapped with 25 ft of para cord, and a few rubber bands for various tasks. On the back of the pouch you will see the Victorinox multi-tool and pouch. I figure with the kit, I can make it over night or a few days if needed. Here are the pics:
Well I hope you enjoyed the little read and pics, I sure did enjoy getting out today.
Take care
