today's epiphany

So I sort of had an epiphany today, I don't think I really want any knives other than CRK folders. Now it's very possible that this opinion might change some day (maybe tomorrow for all I know), but for now that's what I'm feeling. After getting my small sebenza, I went on a ti frame lock kick, thinking I wanted to have a collection of different production ti frame locks, but I've been disappointed in all of them when compared to the sebenza. There are a bunch of other CRK knives I want (another small sebenza with normal blade, seb 25, zaan, etc... ) and rather than paying a bunch of money for something that strives to be as good as the sebenza and fails, I could just put that towards more CRK knives. I'm seriously considering starting to sell off a lot of my collection, because aside from a few specifically practical knives, I probably won't ever edc them now that I have a sebenza. Eh, this might pass, who knows...

Funny I was just talking to a friend(and CRK user) about this very thing. I have some great knives by other makers in my collection, but when it comes to my EDC, it's the Sebenza that is always there. I do have a couple Microtechs that get rotated every now and again, but they never stay in my pocket very long. Sebenza's rule!

I have been there, tried others and after all of them failing the high expectations set upon me by CRK, I have sold nearly all of them off and am about as close to being exclusively CRK as you can get. CRK is where its at.

Roger that. The Sebbie has rendered other (even way more expensive) ti lock knives useless for me. I'm not naming names, but you guys know the usual contenders... I'm very happy to have a CRK back in my pocket!

I agree I always come back to CRK for my folders. I own mostly CRKs with the exception being a that nice customs that are not ridiculously expensive and hold up to quality. I must say there are some crazy customs out there going for crazy money but for me it defeats the purpose of a knife. I mean if my grandfather saw me toting around a multi thousand dollar knife we would pick me in the pants and throw it in the lake haha. He might try to do that to my sebenza but Then would probably just keep it after opening it once!

Now as far as selling your collection to find more Sebenzas. I always ask my self "do I use it?, do I carry it? Does it serve a specific function in my collection? (maybe a dress knife or show off piece)

Either way you can't go wrong.

I feel the same way my fellow CRK nuts!! Haha! That's all I have been purchasing lately and thinking about. I will keep my other ones just so I can practice my freehand sharpening on them, so I can improve :). Other than that I have no desire to look or purchase the others. Funny how that works!

Im with you on this one. I love what a production knife offers like say a Benchmade, well a blade that cost less than $100. But ever sense i purchased my first Sebenza back in April i have not considered buying any other brand other than CRK.

Yep, I don't have any crk's... YET! but I held one ONCE, and I am hooked. The price tag was hard to see at first, but after watching the shop tour vids and working in a machine shop, I understand the price completely now. When I was checking out the sebbie, I was in utter shock, the way it felt and locked up was like nothing else I've held. The loud "clack" of the lock engaging is really re assuring. I am in love with the sebbie, but as of now all my funds are going to making my own knives :) so I'm holding off on one for a while, but I can justify your loyalty to only crk, I see it.

I went through the progression of lesser expensive production folders and really enjoyed using and owning them. I moved my way up into more expensive automatics and higher end production knives. I enjoyed using/owning them and appreciated them for what they were. I eventually found my way into owning a Small Sebenza 21 Insingo--my first Seb. Ever since then I have used it as a measuring stick for all other folders and I am in agreeance with the others that a good portion of the other folders simply did not stack up. I agree with Muad in his statement of: "but I've been disappointed in all of them when compared to the sebenza."

I was a strictly para 2 guy , had 3 different models (blk with satin, digi camo and satin and blue m390) i got a sebenza from my best friend for my wedding gift and since then sold all the paras and only have my sebenza and waiting to find A lrg insingo in lefty to go with my large 21 i have now. i was so amazed by CRK i wont carry anything else.

I'll agree about how difficult it is for others to measure up. That said, there is a place in my "knife needs" for some others. I frankly am extremely impressed with my Ti-Lock Spyderco Southard - I do think it is of worthy quality. There are also times where a waved Emerson is what I want on board. My Benchmade Rukus is a for sure keeper, and I don't see my Paramilitary 2 going anywhere either.

All that said, yes, for me the Large Starbenza is the epitome of what a "pocket knife" should be.

I'm with you on that. The only blade I ever carry besides a CRK is either my Charlow or my Emerson. Even then, something doesn't feel right in the pocket stil.
