Due to surgery on my right hand, I havent carried a knife in over a month and a half. I never thought about how useful a knife really is until I didnt have one for a long time. I still cant hold one and forget trying to open one. My GEC #25 just laughs at me.
That last part is especially sad to me, because GEC #25s should always elicit smiles, and not engage in laughter at another's expense.

:grumpy:
For what it's worth, today's knife is the same one I've been carrying for just over a year and the one that has pretty much caused the shelving of all of my carry options. A Case Mini Copperlock.
... Due to the weaker spring and relying on the lock to make it safer, it actually opens very easy one-handed.
While very true-- I love how easily mine opens, and the solid click when the lock engages-- for those with compromised hand function, it can be difficult to
close because of the direct pressure needed (on a relatively small, non-dispersible-force point in the handle) to disengage the lock.
It's still a mighty fine pattern, however.

Save for a few funny exceptions, all of which have had to be pointed out to me (shooting pool and dealing cards, as two examples), I am right-handed to a fault. When dealing with my own right-sided injury, one of the hardest things to learn to do left-handed was brush my teeth. I'm still surprised I didn't end up with toothpaste in my left eye.
Best wishes to you for a continued healthy recovery.
I'm just getting rolling today, so haven't used a knife for anything yet, but shall keep you posted regarding any interesting exploits with today's choice, my ebony #25:
