Today's my 30th B-Day, I should commemorate it by buying....?

I have been spending a lot more time on BF lately trying to increase my understanding of the world of knives and add to not only my knowledge base but also my collection.

I have a handful of Benchmade, Kershaw, and Spyderco folding knives, and a Becker, Buck, and ESEE fixed blade. I have a Mcusta Tactility and ZT 0301 on the way.

I was looking for something to purchase today that I wouldn't normally purchase (price 300-500 but flexible).

Any suggestions?

How about a Bark River with a beautiful wood handle?

That's what I bought myself for my 30th last year.

bark river is certainly a good suggestion but why not try a custom knife from one of our makers whom contribute so much to the forum?--dennis

keep a close eye out for a xm-18 or post wtb one. I think you'll be happy with that purchase.

if you can't find any. benza or zann are a couple nice choices.

custom if you don't mind waiting for a certain one. some even have some models on hand.

Happy Birthday

I highly encourage this  - buy local & start yourself on a lifetime of owning custom made. There are some spectacular folders & fixed blades available here & well within your price range. Don't be hesitant to get past the first pages, there are a few great ones that get away in the first look & so the sellers are more flexible with their pricing.

...Oh yeah & Happy Birthday!

I've got a Busse ASH1 for sale in the busse for sale section for $370 with two sheaths. BUY IT! Happy birthday.

Folding or fixed blade?

In your price range I would heavily consider going with a custom maker.

P.S. Happy birthday.

I've found I'm making full circle and really appreciating a high quality traditional knife. Even not so quality traditional knives seem to tickle me... I blame my grandpa and a D-Day vet named Jack Crawford.
I don't have one yet, but I'm quite sure I'll be very happy with whatever D2 Queen I decide to get.
Maybe Northwoods.
Maybe Canal Street Cutlery.
Maybe Eye Brand.
Maybe an A.G. Russell designed knife.

me - I just love the traditional and very functional designs.

Any of Yuna's knives(though you'll probably go a bit over $500 after shipping). If you don't want to wait, I'd look at some of the mid-tech's from custom makers with IKBS and a flipper(but that's just me).

Sebenzas are okay, but I'm not particularly fond of the plain jane variety. Perhaps a star tac umnumzaan will scratch that itch.

Have your spouse, kids, parents or significant other buy you the knife - pick a few you like and give them the money and let them make the choice.

That way it means more, and you will be less apt to sell it.

Not sure what you like in the way of knives - but how about a William Henry (from their edc line), or a CRK Mnandi?
