Ancient Logging Bridge rotting away.

I Actually got the drop on a Black Bear right here. But the wind was swirling and he caught my scent after a few minutes, headed for parts unknown. 50 yds, too bad they don't offer a Spring Bear tag for this area. Kind of cool and a little scary being that close to a Wild Bear with just a .223.

Looks like someone's Horse threw a shoe.

I'm not sure what to think of this. Kind of creepy running into stuff like this. Looks like someone might be trying to bait a Bear in. Which is Illegal here, now. There is some kind of dead animal in the bags.

My Falcon II that I bought after Tyrkons review. Got the AK strapped to one side, and my SH-E to the other. I really like both of those blades. I don't know what it is about her, but I'm really digging the SH-E. I beat on the AK a little too. Looking for good spots to set up a ground blind.

Looks good! If that's the normal water level I bet you could pull some nice trout out of that stream. Thanks for sharing.

I don't see the bear. I guess that's how people get eaten.

And whats with the blacked out parts on pic #6

Nice looking rifle btw

Forgive me hogs, I was looking for a rifle in 7.62x39 on teh opposite side of the pack from the SH-E. ROTFL!

I'm such a dope.

He may have had a Coors Light can he was drinking from in frame, and was embarressed.:o

:p

It's good to get out.
Just show the Bear the Busse Long blades and...goodbye Bear.
Thanks for the pix.

That 223 might slow a bear down and give you enough time to pull the AK:D

Nice pics - and looks like a great time too

You are correct on the bear bait bags - cut them down and pack them out. I ran across a couple on my property two weeks ago - Hunting over bait... I won't go there

Why would you carry an AR as a woods gun? Seems a bit light I would imagine. Only good for two legged critters and if Iraq is any representation, not all that good for them either. I do have a couple black rifles though. Fun and cheapish to plink with.

I carry a .500 S&W or .500 Linebaugh in the woods here.

Honestly, it's not the four legged critters you have to worry about. Most of the time they will run the other way. ;)

Is there a lot of "guerilla pot farmers" in your neck of the woods? I've heard stories about booby trapped grow-operations in the PNW.

great pic's ...and excellent gear set up. falconII is my favorite pack (very versatile) as well as the SH-E & AK47  very cool! thanks for sharing.

Nice country and great gear. Looks like you got most bases covered, with the exceptions of bear fighting obviously. :D

I bet with a 30 round clip, you could kill the black bear right quick. Poachers kill elephants and rhino's with ak's all the time. The AK round packs more oomph because of the larger caliber and weight, but really that is like taking a .308 elephant hunting. I would not want to kill a charging Girzzly bear with my .223, but I bet between that and your other "AK" you would have survived and lived to talk about it.

Well, 30 rds and an Aimpoint, would be more then enough make the black bear reconsider about coming at you. Sure bigger holes are bigger.... But, there is also some thing to be said about a bunch of little holes, right in the sweet spot. Then there is the choice to reload or empty your fist of Aluminum replacing it with steel ... Infi at that

Cheers and nice pics
