Caught these two this morning. First was a 36" 20 lb. Second was a 37" 23 lb. Both were males(bucks) which are better to eat. One was sea born the other was hatchery. Sorry the color is off from being in an ice chest. These medium fish got processed with a B10 and a Elmax460. I was hard on these knives and even missed my cutting board with the B10 and slammed the edge into the rock. Cutting up Salmon in hard on knives and I showed no mercy on these two. When I was done the B10 had a small waved spot from slamming it into the rock and the Max had a few micro nicks in it's edge. I was impressed how well I was able to fix the edge on the B10 using a ceramic rod as a strop with only a few passes. The edge is now perfect less one slight nick (metal missing?) in the edge which I am sure will be gone with the next sharpening. The Max cleaned up as good with no felt nicks using the fingernail test. These are two handy knives to have around.

Nice fish!!! Kokanee or Sockeye?

ETA: Ah, I see at least one was Sockeye. How can you tell the difference between sea-born and hatchery? What river?

King or Chinook. Bottom fish missing andolph(sp) fin. The little fin behind the dorsal. These get clipped at the hatchery for marking purposes.

Nice. I miss fighting with those guys. Always a great day when you land some beasts like that! I miss fishing the trinity, some day......thanks for sharing

Amazing how tiny that b10 looks next to them :)

Congratulations
Reminds me of when I used to go the Salmon river in NY state.
thanks for sharing

Thanks for the kind words. They are a lot of fun from shore in waders. When you hook up you end up following them down the river aways. Lots of smoked salmon for the winter.

This fish was 34" 21 lb. I want to keep one hen for my seasons roe. Not to worry. There are a few hundred thousand fish in this run and the hatchery who gathers roe had to put on more help to handle the run this season.

Wow, it's gonna take a LOT of water crackers to get all of that eaten up! ;)
