I suppose it is not deal spotting if I do not say WHERE I bought this. Bought at a local sporting goods store and this was last one in stock anyway.

I walked in and saw a sign that said ALL SOGS - 1/2 OFF. I have been curious about the NW Ranger and just wanted to see and hold one. I looked at the SOGs which were quite numerous but saw no NW Ranger. Upon asking for one, the store clerk found one but it was not in a box and had no price. He said he would mark it for $39.99, and when I took it to the cash register to pay they rang it up at 1/2 price, or 19.99.

They also had a SOG Jungle Canopy for $49.99, so it would have been $25, and I almost bit but then I thought about the Condor Kumunga and Hudson Bay and 12 inch tram machetes I have and decided I really did not need.

Great price if you like Sog.

I bought a NW Ranger in 03 or 04 and gave it to my son to use for camping. I wasn't using it at the time so I gave it to him.
 
That's a great price. I've always like that knife, primarily because of the handle design and blade size/shape. The sheath alone would cost $20.
 
I have been wanting to pull the trigger on one of those but just can't justify it to household 6. But if I found it half off I would do it.
 
I had one of those pass through my hands and although I never used it, I was impressed by it's overall quality. The sheath aint that great, but I think it's a solid knife. At that price, couldn't have gone wrong.
