Cleaned up surface and rough ground these S35VN BT4s. Two are flat and one is convex ground.

I suppose it would be considered thin for a BT4 because most of them are a bit over 3/16. These are between 1/8 and 5/32 which was my original design concept for the BT4. I dig this thickness a whole lot so I will probably end up keeping one of them.

hahaha... I don't have my own BT4 so give me a break :D I will wait and see. I can't decide between a BT4Variant or a BT4 Recurve. But I do know that I want mine on the leaner side.

Ban, which do you prefer the convex or the flat ground in a knife of this size?

I am very partial to the flat grind on small to small medium knives. In the case of these .140 BT4s either the flat or convex grind would offer excellent geometry for high performance cutting. The convex will be slightly more robust while the flat will have slightly better cutting performance.

Between 1/8 and 5/32 sounds like a nice cutter indeed

Noted for the FAQ  :)

Good to know! I am still learning the best application of which grind is best on each style of knife.
I look forward to handling my convex BT4 when it is finished.
I am lucky enough to head to blade this year, hopefully will get to meet you in person.
Are you setting up a table?

J

I won't be setting up a table this year. Just want to go out there to check things out and see old friends this year. I hope to meet you in person.

Very nice, nice and thin :D

I really like the design of the BT4
