This knife is my new grail... i have never seen anything that beautiful with an edge before. It's the knife equivalent of Adriana Lima

Can anyone tell me how the quality of his knives compares to other extremely high end folders? It's really WAY outside what i'd normally call my budget but I'm giving some thought to saving up for one over the next few months.

It's not just the money, it's also the fact that you're probably looking at over a year wait if you want one custom from Todd himself. From what I hear they're amazing quality though. Definitely worth budgeting for one. The one that you posted a picture of is the nicest one i've ever seen.

Can not give any feedback here but thought I would chime in to say I think that knife is absolutely stunning! Just wow!

Good luck on your quest!

I had the pleasure of seeing this knife in person at a gunshow in Marlboro, MA this past weekend, a place it absolutely did not belong at given its asking price of $5,200 (the dealer that was on Blade Brothers is the guy who has it presently). It's an absolutely stunning knife in person, as you can probably tell. I didn't dare ask to handle it so I can't comment on it any further. I think Todd's books are over two years actually, if not longer. His brother Mark did mention that direct from Todd this knife is $4,000 so $5,200 isn't as crazy a markup as I expected.

I suspect a little bit of photoshop magic going on in that picture as the colors are more muted in real life. The blue was certainly much less dark.

two things

first, thanks a LOT for the first hand impression. The brilliance of the blue is actually one of the things i love most so that's depressing

second... holy CRAP i had no idea it was 4k... that knocks it thoroughly out of my sights for the foreseeable future. I was expecting somewhere around 1500

Here's my crappy instagram picture of the knives the dealer brought, the Glimpse is the very top right knife. The picture is obviously a bit washed out but it's definitely not as brilliant of a blue. It's much lighter, more like a baby blue. Regardless, still a breathtaking piece of art. I think regular Glimpses might be closer to that figure but this one was special, hence the added cost. Still a bit crazy to think about.

Beggs wait is more around 7+ yrs I believe for a true custom. With a knife like the 1 you posted a major part your paying for is art the other part is an extreme amount of handwork done. I like beggs work a lot its a genius design but for 5k there are definitely some knives I would suggest over it.

I had a chance to talk with him and Mark for a while at the NYCKS and picked up one of the first six custom Glimpse Friction Folders he made for the show. Ive posted about it before if you'd like to see more photos/info on it but long story short, it is one of the top three best knives I have ever owned. His knives are a bit pricey but the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is just unbelievable. He is also a very friendly and geuine guy so it doesn't hurt as bad spending your money on his work. I recommend going to shows and getting one direct from him if you can to avoid the wait time or secondary market pricing.

my thoughts....best looking folders out there, never had the chance to handle one but will in about 6 weeks when my field grade gets here:D:D:D

I had one of Todd's Glimpse folders for a couple of years and really liked it. Fit and finish were superb and the knife fired like a rocket with the flipper.
Todd's a great guy to deal with, very knowledgeable, and super friendly.

They look well-made. A little too fancy on some of the models though, but how do they cut?
