It works very well because the bolster is complex and worked. Keeping the shield close to the bolster makes all the difference as well. Nicely slim, the gamble has more than paid off.
 
That bolster is a stunner! With all that room, it's a wonder you don't see more fancy bolsters on barlows. I guess because they're "workman" knives, but still. It looks fantastic!

Well put, the shield placement, and fancy bolsters look great. And personally, I really like a black and silver combination on knives. Often times I think barlows look bare if there is not at least a "logo" on the bolster.
