Picked up this Bangor, Maine axe for a $1 at my local antique store. It read. ____H. Saw, Co. Bangor, Maine. It's all I could make out.

I've started to fix it up and think I'll hang it on a 28" handle. It's probably smaller length-wise than original but the eye is full size so I can't go with a Boy's axe handle.

The toe is severely knocked out, thus the name "Toeless Martha". I don't want to remove more material to fix the toe.

This is the full haul from the antique store for $10.

thanks again for posting

Thatll probably still make a fine axe. I have some 3 pounders, I like between 29 and 31 inch. 28 is a bit short but im sure you can get used to it.
