Tokyo Spike issue

Hey All,

Recently picked up a tokyo spike from knifecenter. 1 light-medium chop into a log and I got this:

Now I know it's not huge edge damage, just a medium size roll that I can easily sharpen out, but one light chop into a log, come on! I have their working man in the same steel and tried the same chop but harder and no damage (yes I am aware it has a thicker edge.) I then tried chopping again with the tokyo spike in a different spot on the blade and no damage. Is it just a soft spot on the edge? Somehow the heat treat got screwed up on that one spot? It almost seems like that spot was nor hardened... Will sharpening it fix this? Is this warrantiable? Thanks guys.

Both. Probably a HT issue with the factory edge.
You can sharpen it out and most likely you'll never run into the issue again.
Or, you can ask Cold Steel for a replacement, I had a Finnbear that had multiple chips
after first use and Cold Steel replaced it, That said, from all the reports I'm reading
Cold Steel's customer service is a bit of a mess right now after the sale to GSM so
not sure what their response would be or how long it will take.

Ya I'll probably just sharpen it out and hope for the best. I mean for a $25 knife it's just not worth the hassle.
