My dad is going to Tokyo for a few days on a business trip. I figure this would be a good chance for me to expand my small collection :D. Anyone know any knifeshops in Tokyo that have a decent collection of Spydies?

Think I might just ask for a couple. Perhaps a Gayle Bradley and....a Chokwe? :D

HI Herr Noob,

I saw part of a thread on Spyderco forum that it is not that easy (for tourists) to buy knives in Japan due to a variety of factors. Seki prefecture might be a different story!I hope some more experienced members have some suggestions for you. Good to see another fan from Perth. Got my first 3 Spydies last week :-)

There are knife shops in and around Tokyo but the knives will probably be rather
expensive and it would be of great advantage to be with a local when you go.

You can ask your old boy to pick me up a few Nemoto knives while he's there too. :D:thumbup:

you're correct very expencive. I found a few shops, most of them carry airsoft or "replica" firearms. Beware though, there are alot of fakes-- I was in 1 store that had a ton of fake striders, and the owner tried to shoo me out when I took out my camera:rolleyes:

The website is down so I had to view the cached version. The third item on that list "ゲイル・ブラッドリー" translates to "Gail Bradley" :D (plus it's the only one in CPM-M4). It's going to be roughly $169USD which is an extra $35 than newgraham. Not too bad when you take shipping costs to Australia into account.

You aren't allowed to carry knives in Tokyo O_o? I thought that was only minors.

Try 'The Edge' knifeshop in Shibuya, Tokyo. (it closes at 19:00...)

People have visited and bought there...........I've bought from them over the internet with no problems and they have a great selection.........

The Net link is down at the moment but should be back shortly.......

BRIAN

Thanks mate.
Always great to hear from another Aussie in Perth :D:thumbup:

I think many knives are under price control in Japan.
Many Japanese blog writer bought their knives from oveaseas
and I am waiting for chokwe from US.

For example when I searched for Chokwe,
almost all prices were 16,300 JP yen and no auction in Japan.
So I bought Chokwe 129 US dollers from ebay with world wide shipping
and total cost that added 10 dollers donation was about 143 US dollers.
143 US dollers was about 13,800 JP yen.

And also about "decent collection" I cannot hope in Japan
because products information is merely updated so that
I couldn't recognize FFG Endura from Japanese Website.

Maybe any shop doesn't have enough space
to display and rejoyce filled spyderco for foreigners
although seki-city bland is worldwide outside from Japan.

So I cannot recommend it.
