Toledo Sword

Value is what you are willing to pay.

Consider this a decorator item

10 pounds aint real
and 82" ain't real
[although on 2nd glance at the photos,
41" & 5# may be more accurate,
but still too heavy]

Looks like seller has intentionally blurred out photo
around center of blade in both pix
That says there's something to hide

"gold" sometimes means gold color,
ie brass, or very thin gold-alloy plating or gold foil
(of no true value as a quantity of gold)

If anyone has an idea as to this swords value I would greatly appreciate it.

I will take more pics soon of the sword. All I know is that it has inlaid gold on the blade, 82" long and approximatley 10 lbs.

82" must be a mistake.

If it's really 10lbs, then it must be a wallhanger (and it certainly looks like one--like something out of The Noble Collection, or thereabouts).

A sword of that type should weigh more in the 3-3.5 lb range.

This looks like an old 1970-80s Marto decorator sword. The length is around 52-54 inches, and its weight is less then 10 lbs. They are heavy, with blunt edges (flat - about 1/8 inch wide), and intended for decoration. The discoloration around the center is probably rust that has been cleaned away damaging part of the printed design.

These swords are stainless steel, and they use to come with a shield shaped wall mounted display plaque. The swords were held in place by a point cup and a broad velvet strap. That discoloration is of the same location and width as the velvet strap. It probably hung on a wall for 20 years developing rust under the strap.

These swords should not be swung. They can be dangerous since the blade can easilly break loose of the hilt and launch itself.
