We just recently signed up with the new and improved Toledo Swords. Anybody have any comment about them? They seems like a good value. Paul

I've never seen anything from them that isn't decorative only. Not horribly impressed I'm afraid.

Ok...Swords from toledo are more often then not display pieces..True..But Ive been in Toledo and some of the stuff is passible so Just like stuff from packistan etc...Its mostly bad but there are exceptions...This isnt one tho...

The one on the site advertised is not worth the server space its hosted on.

Theres so much wrong with this sword that all I can say is its nice and shiny isnt it?

You seem to imply that there are new swords coming out...I looked over at the swordsfromtoledo.com site which seems to be a distributer of the sword above and nothing they sell are actually swords. They are all display pieces including thoose listed as battle ready (what we are banned from calling SLO's elsewhere)

I dont know exactly the steel used or how they are heattreated etc but I know a SLO when I see one and these are them!!!

You asked, the answer is IMHO they do seem well made and are very nice for WHAT THEY ARE and that is very nicely made decrotive wallhangers.

Advertising, unintentional or intentional are rather frowned upon in the public forums outside of the exchange.

Please be wary of what you post, as some may consider it blatant advertising. However, the discussion here appears to be more geared towards questioning the quality, etc. of Toledo Swords.

Again, subliminal and overt advertising are things to avoid, but otherwise business owners, dealers, and makers are all welcome.

It is shaky ground that is subject to a lot of interpretation, but that is why we have moderators on these forums.

Sorry to interrupt, just chiming in...

:) Well if this was some sort of oblique advertising it doesn't seem to be working out so well... :) In fairness the original poster seems to have been around for a while which isn't usual with simple spammers.

Not trying to advertise, we pay for that in the Dealer section. Just trying to get an honest opinion for folks who may know before I waste time placing them on our site. We have never gotten any at this point and just want some feedback. And how we have gotten it huh! Thanks Guys! Paul

If I might suggest, if you are looking to place production swords on your site you might try cold steel, or hanwei or perhaps even Kris Cutlery or Del Tin. These are on the lower end of the production sword spectrum but they are closer in price to what you currently carry.

Thanks Triton, we have been moving up in the dollar range recently. How do you feel about Paul Chen? We have sold several pieces and they seem nice. Again, I appeciate input. I am pretty intune with most things in cutlery, swords is my weak point. Thank you. Paul

No problem, personally I think that the Paul Chen/Hanwei stuff is a pretty good value for the money. It isn't the be all and end all of the production sword business, but they are reasonably attractive and the quality seems to be constantly improving. They also have the advantage of having a good number of models to choose from. The only downside to them is that there are a lot of retailers but I guess you guys know about retailing so...

Bascially ditto on whay triton said...Paul chen/hanwei stuff is pretty good and there is a strong maket for their stuff but its also sold anywhere and everywhere. You will sell the preduct ok esp if youve got a rep for good service (No offense, havent heard about you guys before) There are several companies in europe that you may check up on that make real weapons but anything with teh word toledo on it arent what your looking for unless you want to be a decrotive sword retailer (which is ok in its own right of course!!)

Thanks Fleadh. Love to get feedback like this, great way to learn. Have any names of the European companies you can think of and email me? Thanks again! Paul

TDE, you may wish to contact Lutel, a company in the Czech Republic about importing some of their reproductions. I have heard thatthey hold up very well and the dagger that I bought from them seems to be most solidly made and finished rather well for the money. Their web site is: http://www.lutel.cz/index2e.htm
