This guy adds an edit that he was using it incorrectly in places.

Anyone had one in hand, I compare all files to the wave. The file in this seems inadequate.

Interesting concept.

I'm just not really sure what it's for unless you're going to be carrying it in a vehicle where space is extremely limited. I think that's the only way it makes sense. It's too heavy and awkward for normal every day carry, and if you've got just a little room in your vehicle, you can carry some things that are a lot better.

What is the weight?

Watched the video this morning and I couldn't help but to just think how awkward it looks to use. Basically it has all the tools that normal multitool has + wrench but just way more unconvenient.

True but the reviewer admitted how bad he was handling it.

With practice that would be less of an issue.

I want to see how that wrench thing works before I judge. If it's good then this package has potential imo. I'm the guy that carries a MT (wave) + xs cobra pliers, bit extender and bit kit and a plier wrench, if this device works I could replace all of the above with one tool for the same weight (guessing weight).

If my wave was a surge then this tool would probs be less weight than what I carry.

I watched the video, and although interesting, it felt as a pre-production unit (which it maybe considered to be). The pliers seemed badly finished and the hinges a bit quirky. I think they are into something here but probably V2.0 would be a product that I would consider.

Same feelings.

Tx Tool Crib discovered that the wire cutters on the pliers of the Union aren't very good. They can't make it all the way through the wire. If you're still thinking of getting one of these, I would at least wait until they fix this issue.

Some other problems are bound to come to light as well.

Yeah, definitely wait and see how it improves before making a decision.

I think this was crowd funded, if everyone waits for V02 there might not be one.
Ask yourself if you want wire cutters that don't cut wire, on a multitool that weighs almost a pound.

Go from a Cobra XS to the 5" (125mm) model, and drop the PW. In my opinion, that's already a way better toolset than what you get with the Union.

There's a lot of benefit to being able to split the weight and bulk over different places rather than having it all concentrated in one spot. It's why your clothing has more than one pocket.

Good points but drop the PW???

Possibly the most useful well designed wrench ever invented. There is no valid competitor, shifters are now officially obsolete.

A hand tool shouldn't need practice or an instruction manual to figure out and or operate properly.

Sometimes convention is king, and the reason leatherman was successful was because it acts so much like a normal pair of combination jaw needle nose pliers.
The knife is mostly like any other pocket knife, and all the other impliments are a compromise but again a lot like people might be used to from a swiss army knife or scout knife...ect.

This thing is trying to do too much and not really able to do much of it in a way thats very intuitive or easy.
It's too complicated and awkward in form.
I'm sure it'll function, but even those who love ingenious novel things that do a lot will realize that simple intuitive operation in a relatively familiar form are best sometimes.

If you paired a multitool of your choice with one of these folding clench wrenches you could pretty much have a better version of the same thing.
I never found much use for the ones I was gifted, but the smaller one would carry just like the average modern folder.
No pocket clip though I'm sure somebody could come up with one.

Time will tell, but I believe it will show this thing is too different for it's own good.

I don't know that it will be a game changer. Even in experienced hands, it looks too fiddly and awkward. And I'm still trying to figure out why it's as big as it is. It's great that folks are thinking outside of the box when it comes to multitool design, but I don't think that one's quite there yet.
