Ever since the tracker thread I've been thinking about a real chopper design. It is a little slow today so I did some coat and tie forging. This is rough...it's forge file and a little grind but it gives the design a chance.

Does it chop......Your damn Skippy it does
Does it CUT........Ditto

It has a 3.5" blade with a 5.5" cutting surface. The sweet spot is just at the start of the upsweep so it is always hitting an angle.

It is half inch thick 1075

OK designers, make a real chopper and see if it doesn't work better than that yuppie knife. :footinmou

"shirt and tie forging" How do you keep from catching your tie on fire? :D

I wish I had a boss that forged when it was slow ---

1/2 inch thick!! You inspiring bastid, you're getting me all excited about going home and forging a chopper out of some 1-inch W-2 roundstock. ;) :)

I don't always. I have an apron but read some of my old posts. One time I had a clients employee come by while I was forging and without knowing it, had caught my shirt on fire under the apron. We chatted while I was still smoking. :o

I am the boss and forging while it is slow is little enough payment for what I have to put up with! :footinmou

Interesting idea isn't it.

It's still slow and I'm working on a UNKNIFE for Will now.

It should take quite a bit from whatever it hits, being so heavy and having the cuttin edge shaped like that.
But can you tell me where do you fit the folder??? I can't see any compartment for it on the blade :D

Holly C@@L Mother of bent Blued steel P/D :D

lets see that Folder choped in half and send the picture in to a mag.
just don't for get us little guys when you make it in the big time.

you never know ;)

Shucks Dan...wasn't anything to it. I just found an old car, broke off 2 springs, used my bow drill to start a fire and forged it out using one spring to beat the other one. :footinmou

I might throw it through a tree later and maybe quarter a couple of feds with Starlight scopes.. :footinmou :footinmou :footinmou :footinmou :footinmou :footinmou

:D nice piece of work P/D
now a handle about 18" long to reach out there to touch some one..
:D

Pretty nice, Don! It looks like you are going rhino hunting again. You won't need a rifle, your big chopper will do it all. You need a fireproof shirt and suit, fella!
