Hello I am new to this site and this is my first post. I just purchased the paratrax bowie knife from amazon for $22. I think it is a very good knife for the money. I bought the knife because it was cheap and I wouldn't be afraid to really use it like I would the $300 tom brown.I also wanted to see if that design was something that i liked. If I do think the design works well enough then some time in the future i might be interested in getting a tom brown. My question is for those that have used these knives. Is the design in your opinion good for wilderness self reliance? Also how do you sharpen the blade? I was able to get the curved part razor sharp but the flat place is kind of concaved and is hard to sharpen with a stone.
I don't really like the handle knife that came with the paratrax it was only sharpened on one side so the edge was very dull, (flat to be more acurate).I guess I will need to do a lot of grinding to get it sharp if i even fool with it at all. I may feel in the hole with epoxy and put a piece of steel in it with a hole so I can attach a piece of paracord to go around my wrist.
Thanks to all those that can help. Don
