Wondering what the latest thoughts are regarding Tom Brown's knives. I was set to pick up a Ka-Bar but a buddy of mine that just got back from "The Sand Pit" was telling me about these nifty things. Wondering what you all think about em. :)

Great design to keep in the bushplane or for any last ditch scenario, if you know how to use it. It is a very specialized tool, a bushcraft kinda thing. I guess if you had only one tool...

If you are going to war, you might find it handy. If you just want a tool for civy use, get a knife

I would never carry one. I prefer a smaller 3-4" fixed blade. Between that and a pocket chainsaw I can do anything a Tracker can do, and a lot it can't.

In my opinion Trackers are kind of a 'Rambo' thing.

I wouldn't put up with the size and weight of one, therefore, I wouldn't have it when I needed it!

Rambo survival knives, Trackers, Woodsmans Pals, seen 'em come, seen 'em go! I've even owned a few! I always come back to a good smaller knife.....

Personally i don't care for them. I'd think a Kabar, ranger,bk&t etc plus a leatherman would be a much better setup. just my .02.

a bit gimmicky. the idea was one tool that could do many things ok, but the result is a tool that does nothing great.

but well made with quality materials.

I've handled them. Big and beefy. Expensive too. The one thing about some of the TOPs knives, Tracker included, is that they start the primary grind (not the edge grind) way down low on the blade...well below the spine. Well, the knife is 1/4" steel, so the lower the primary grind begins, the thicker it will be near the edge. I'd kindly like to have one because it can almost take the place of a camp axe, but not if I have to have the primary bevel re-ground.
