I have a Horn 9" Dagger 4 1/2" blade red micarta scales with 5 pins. The knife is very thin only a 1/4" thick including scales. Included is a sheath which covers 2" of the handle with boot clip, serial number is 006. It was purchased new by my father-in-law some time back. I have no idea what this knife may be worth or when it was made, maybe somewhere in the 1960's. Can anyone give me more infromation on this knife?

Unfortunately it's not worth what you would wish (Many hundreds of dollars?). Tom Horn is not a prominent name in Custom Knives, and although it would be rare, rarity, in this sense, does not equal much value.

There is no Tom Horn listed in any of the Knives Annuals dating back to 1983. I've never heard of this maker.

That said, there is a Jess Horn, who's work IS fairly valuable. His collectible specialties are folders.

As ROBB pointed out, photos would be paramount. My guess is this has more heirloom value than monetary. But, I could be wrong.

Probably a factory knife to commemorate Tom Horn: "A renowned former army scout hired by ranchers to hunt down rustlers but finds himself on trial for the murder of a boy when he carries out his job too well."

Ive never heard of a knife maker named Tom Horn either.

Maybe this will work. This is my first time at trying to get pictures into a thread. I posted the pictures to photobucket and created the url (i think) but seem to be doing something wrong after that. I guess we can't just do a copy and paste.

This doesn't seem to work either, I had the file as private and have now changed it to public url seems to be photobucket.com/hornkni

I may be mistaken, but I believe that is an early Jess Horn Knife. Early or mid 70's maybe.

That's Jess Horn's font. It's in fair shape, not good shape.
