Anyone has experience with this? www.survivalknives.com . I don't like the shape much but the integral design does sound attractive. What is A-8 tool steel? Does it kinda like A-2?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Dew...

Nice enough knife,, Fairly hefty price tag on it though...

For $100.00 less I'd rather have the Tops Anaconda..

For $100.00 more the Simonich Nordooh or Young survival blade...

The handle is a little too rectangular for my liking,, and I don't like the Pommel much either...

It does look well made though...

Looks solid enough but at that price range there is no reason why you couldn't find an equally solid knife with a better blade shape. The Busse Steel Heart costs $50 dollars less. Or go with the proven Randall model 14 for about the same price.

Dew,

That is the knife that has been pushed through steel plate. I just read a review in an old issue of Tactical Knives but don't remember which issue.

I'll go through the back-issues and let you know via e-mail which one has the review.

Over built if you ask me.

You could get everything one needs done with a Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk ($14 in the WOW sale) and a Colorado Cutlery Drop Point ($50?), the two would weigh far less and do absolutley everything you need.

Except give you that full pants feeling.

For that kind of money you could get 2 custom knives from good but inexpensive makers, or one custom from a regular priced maker. You could get a Chris Reeve Hollow Handle, An Allen Blade Combat Patrol Bowie and a 1095 MEUK, A Matt Lamey Custom, A couple TOPS knives, I could go on and on.

If only they made a knife shaped like their logo.

How many Cold Steel Bushman could you buy with $375?

Paying more does not mean you get more.

Thanks for all the comments and info. I think I agree with you guys. At that price I wish they could make it like one of Edmund Davidson's. Only then I would try one.

Whats with the guard at the bottom of the handle? Can you imagine chopping with that thing. OUCH! A bit pricey too. Looks pretty cool though. Just my thoughts.

Yuk! That's not the most attractive looking knife.Looks like a big hunk of metal with some chunky micarta slabs bolted to it.hahah

Seriously though for the price you can do alot better.

c'mon-doesnt everybody need a knife that goes through metal diamond plate?

lifter, I was once attacked by several diamond plates, and I can only wish I had this knife when the incident occured.

LOL.

In all seriousness, it's an interesting design, I guess, but not for my tastes. Hell, the steel plate thing doesn't make their knives stand out in particular either. Busse's been punching Battle Mistresses through steel plates as part of their sales demo from the start. The added value and ergonomics of the Busses led me to the INFI Steel Heart, and I've been very pleased with it. Cold Steel used to punch knives through car doors and 55 gallon drums. While it's not a steel plate (like the one in my head

), it shows what a decent point geometry can accomplish.
