I was lucky enough to participate in a pass around for a Spyderco Centofante reground by Tom Krein and even luckier to win it at the end. I received the knife today and I have got to say it is even better when you own it. :) This sleek wharnie is already a slicer but the regrind shows you just what proper edge geometry can do for cutting ability. The reground bevels are right at home with the lines of this knife. With all due respect to the original design, the new lines are much more appealing to my eyes. Of course production knives are not generaly made with such thin grinds so it's not like Spyderco is off base or anything of that sorts. For members of this forum in general though I cant think of any reason not to check out Tom Kreins grinds. This Centofante has me wondering what else needs a re-grind. Many thanks to Tom and the great Forum members who organized and participated in the pass.

Man... I've been wanting to get my Cento IV reground by Krein for a while now... thanks for reminding me!

It does look great, and I bet it cuts even better.

Welcome to the world of True knife performance!! That is a better looking knife now and a better cutter. Thanks for the pic.

I had the pleasure of using that knife in the passaround and really liked it. Maybe I'm due for Krein grind #7, as my other 6 are getting lonely. Congrats again on winning a real nice knife. The Centofante is such a nice gents knife, then add Tom's great grinding skills and you have a real winner for pure cutting fun.

I picked one of those up just this week. Nice knife for sure. The blade is already akin to a straight razor I can't image how much thiner in could get. I bet it cuts like a demon.

Has anyone ever thought of "waving" the Centofante? Would it weaken it's integrity? Inquiring minds want to know.

Man, I can only imagine how sharp that sucker is. That's one knife that I sure wouldn't have thought needed a regrind. I've got one of the factory mint versions, and it's already a slicin and dicin machine.

Hey---J-Boy!! Do you think he cuts pizza with that knife?? lol.

hey Lycosa I prefer the slight belly of the Centofante3's blade for pizza :p
the "stock" Cento4 's blade is listed at only 2mm thick so the Kreined version must be truly *scary* sharp ;)
