Tom is easily one of my all-time favorite knife makers... bold statement to toss out there, but the way his knives endure in my collection leads me to that conclusion without much argument. That being said the Hydra is easily one of his coolest little EDC fixed blades... checkitout:
Specs:
Blade: 2.25" cutting edge, 2.5" from tip to handle
OAL: 6"
Weight: 3.4oz
Steel: D2
Handle: Antique Ivory Paper Micarta
What a cool little knife, really... the handle just snuggles into your hand when you're holding it. The blade isn't big but the shape and grind really lend themselves to usability. Tom's use of D2 is excellent and handle is smooth but easy to get a grip on.
There's an interesting debate between having really slim handles, or thicker scales for ergos. This knife meets in the middle, not overly thick, but comfortable to hold with the contouring.
Let's talk about Tom's grinds... The man is famous for making sharp knives... and this is no different, especially with this high hollow grind.
and a hand shot for comparison... Hope you guys like it, as always I love hearing what you think... Thanks!!
