Just got back from visiting Tom Krein's shop today!

So cool!

He reground my LaGriffe to a more usable edge and put a top swedge and flat grind on my Salt 1.

I went with my buddy Ben and my nephew Garth. We got to tour his shop and check out all the knives he's working on.

Even got to check out a new prototype for CRKT! (shhhh-top secret!)

Man, talk about knife-nut paradise! So many different knives-so little time to play with them all!

Here are some shots my knives:

Sorry about the quality of the pics- Cell phone, don't ya know...I'll try to get some better ones this weekend.

Talk about sharp though! I can't wait to try out my Krein-Salt at work tomorrow! (Tomorrow's truck day-lots of pallets to cut open and boxes to break down)

Here are some of Tom working his magic:

Very cool! Got a reground Endura on it's way as we speak, Tom does some great stuff!

Got to love those Krein regrinds! Tom is a great guy to deal with, like an old pal every time I call him up. It is sweet that he is so generous with his time and lets people tour the shop and watch him do his thing.

Yeah, it was cool to see him do his thing!

After he finished with my knives, he showed me how he takes a blade down to a complete flat grind.

He took a Pacific Salt and started grinding on it and he showed me how he grinds a little on each side, and then uses a micrometer to check the thickness of the edge.

I found out something about H1 that I didn't know today.

Most steels, when you grind them, create dust. H1, however, instead of dust, it creates a little tuft of steel. Almost like a tiny, light, very fine bit of steel wool. So wild!

It was definetely a blast, and Tom was great to take the time to show us all the cool stuff he does. He really made us feel welcome today!

those are some great photos! Thanks for sharing, it's nice to put a face with a name. I have a Delica ZDP sent into Tom that I will post pictures of when I get it returned. Being my first regrind I'm excited to see what all the fuss is about :)

Just got back from work....and let me tell you.....this knife is like a freakin' lightsaber!!!!

Tinwiskers: Just wait.....you'll see what the fuss is when you get that knife back :eek:

And yeah, guys, Tom is definetely one of the hardest working guys in knifemaking!

You should have seen all the knives everywhere!

It just amazes me all the more that he was so gracious in taking time out of his extremely busy day to not only work on my knives, but to show us the shop and all the different projects he has going right now.

Tom reground my small classic Sebenza and it is a light saber now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is really a great guy to deal with. I have an Ultimate Caper and a TK11 by him and they are my sharpest knives. I am sending him a few Spydercos to reground.
