Hey Guys.

Just thought I would share my most recent acquisition and the work that was done to make it "pretty"

I am a huge fan of Tom Krein.
I really love his philosophy of putting egonomics and useable grinds first.

I had the opportunity to get one of his folders, the SHARD, and I couldn't pass this one up.
It follows his philosophy to a 'T' and it's a wonderfully crafted knife, I just felt that the 'Sardine' required a little 'dressing up'

Here are the specs on the SHARD and a pic. of when it was still it's all silver self.....

Titanium Frame Lock Flipper
OAL: 8.125
Blade: 3.25
Steel: CPM-154

Ceramic Bearings/Ceramic Detent
Integral stop pin

Standoffs/LBS: Titanium

My idea for the SHARD was to give it a 'worn' look.

I really love knives that have a classic and almost 'used' look to them.
I also wanted to add a little flair to the knife, while keeping it fairly subdued and not going overboard.

A lot of my ideas came from SHARD's that Tom had customized himself, or that where full customs.

All the work was done by Josh @ REK (ya, he does more then just regrinds!) and in terms of our conversations regarding what I wanted in this knife, he hit it out of the park.....

Enjoy the pics, and maybe this can serve as inspiration to anyone struggling on what to do if they have a Sardine!!

Oh wow that's stunning! Completely changed the knife for the better. I love the dark stone washing! Looks amazing.

Thanks Mark.

It turned out great, not too overwhelming, just right.
This one is a keeper for sure.....

I love kreins stuff and you made that piece even better. Kudos! Russ

Thanks Russ, I certainly was a little worried I would ruin it, but I think it turned out looking like something Tom would do.

I spent some time looking at some of his custom work, and stayed close to that while adding in a little bit of what I wanted.
