Tom is no longer making knives. I believe he is now working as a knife designer.

Maybe he will get back into it at some point, but, he sold his shop tools last year. (see advertisement for sale of tools on page 99 of Blade September 1999)

There are still plenty of good examples on the secondary market.

Tom retired making knives in 1995. He is now a graduate student. I purchased all of his equipment to make the Vorpal knives in addition to some other equipment. I can fill you in more if you want to send me a e mail. I just purchased a Vorpal Sword last month. He only made 5 of them. The Vorpals do pop up from time to time. Tom is working on getting his records together and possibly putting them on the web so that collectors can research their knives and swords.

if you do a search...a few months back there was a thread in the custom knives forum about tom and towards the end he actually showed up and posted...met him a few times at the Bakca shows.....his email address would be in the thread as well as his new site i think. One of my friends has one of his swords...it is awesome!

There was an excellent thread about Maringer not too long ago in Custom Knives forum. He even chimed in with an interesting explanation of why he no longer makes knives. Try a search, you won't be disappointed.

If you can find a vorpal GRAB IT, they are very hard to find and well worth the price.

FYI
I found some information (Tom has a web site) through Guru.com. Tom says he got out of the business when he learned someone was killed with one of his knives. From the way he said it, I don't think he'll be making any more knives.
