Tom retired from knifemaking and is now a graduate student. I purchased all of the equipment to make the Vorpals.

Tom is a gifted, creative guy. I have a small, signed neck/belt knife that I bought about a dozen years ago. It's formed out of a solid bar of ATS-34. It came with a neck/belt sheath made from Kydex when Kydex was pretty much unknown. Great little knife.

Maringer's knives are exceptional and his designs/sheaths were way ahead of the curve....lotsa folks are doing spear point fighters and kydex sheaths nowadays but he did them very early on.
I have a 3 knife custom set of his, and used to carry a Scalpel as a backup when I was with the fuzz (foolishly sold it).
and yes I will post pics ASA i can get my scanner workin.
he is reachable by email and very personable; he says he is going to get his records together soon and make a database of his production info on the net.
hold on to the vorpals! or sell em to me....

I agree with Gene, Tom made some great knives. He went on to other things from personal reasons.

RED MAG:
I followed your link and read through Tom's bio. It stated he quite making knives when he found out one of them was actually used to kill some one with. I am not talking down on the Tom but most of his knives were of the fighter/tactical type. Did he not think someone would use it for what it was desighned for? It's just kinda weird that he would quite making them when someone finnally used one for what it was intended to do ya know?

Hi folder VSfixed,
welcome to the forums.

Well, I think you can compare it with guns.
The problem is not to let bad guys get one.

I respect his decission, although I admire his work.
