I don't know why it's called the TMX. Maybe Tom will give us some history (please...?). :)

I've been wanting one of these since they were introduced years ago. Sold as a benchmade or mid-tech or partially-production knife, they are completely fitted and finished by Tom. (Parts are lazer cut?)

Anyway, this one came around on our F/S forum and I snagged it from MartinR. They are rare to find.

The TMX's have a variety of logos, and bladeshapes. I usually would prefer a recurve model, but this blade shape has a nice Scagel-esque belly to it. Nice subtle mark.

Anyway, as I always do with my own purchases, I shoot it just a bit differently. In this case the Hawaiian grass background works nicely... :)

Great score and a great knife. What's not to like?
Congrats Coop, thanks for sharing.

See Ya at Blade,

It's nice to see a knife only set up for tip up carry rather than the opposite.

I'd love to hear how they are made too.

Handsome knife. Tom's knives have great lines. I see a little "Loveless" in each one and that is a compliment.

Congrats!! The TMX is a great knife!!!! Like you, I had always wanted one too, and as you know, I have one. I just LOVE Tom's knives.

If I remember correctly, Tom had the parts CNC'd and then worked his magic on each knife. I believe I recall seeing the prototype in early 2005. . . . .like Jan or Feb. . . . .maybe Mar.

I can't remember what the acronym stands for. I called mine the Tom Mayo X Project. :D

Two things I do know. . . .I picked one up at Blade Show '05 and Tom's fit and finish on the TMXs I've handled are on par with his full blown customs ! In fact, a year or so after the initial purchase. . . .I had to have another. :D

That's a really good looking folder, Coop. Looks to be a solid, sturdy piece. Very well presented, it goes without saying. Nice grab.

I was there when you were there, thinking Coop scopes EVERYTHING I like.
Then you took it! :D
Nice grab.
Dig the whole knife but really like the thumbdisc.

Let's do coffee. . . .or something. Gus is buying drinks and steaks. :D

I hope you don't mind if I butt in, Gus said he was bringing some goat steaks, gotta try those. I hope to meet both of you and raise a glass with you. Southern Sweet Tea for me, though.

Here is Tom..........drinking coffee, wishing my broken clavicle would heal so I could get back to work!!!

Parts outlines and inserts were CNC'd by the Halperns..........then sent to me :)

Tom, how many variants of this design have you made? How many of them are unique?

Coop

Tom, thanks for the info. I also hope that your broken clavical n(OUCHY) heals quickly.

May I ask what does TMX stand for?
