Larry should be here in 4 hrs or so. Anybody that's in the local area that wants to come by and smash some steel, come on! :D

Had a great time. Smashed some steel and ate some fine meals.

Thanks to absconding Deb's blowdryer till my blower get's here. We welded a few wrapped style inserted bit hawks. Even managed to start a hawk from some mystery steel that felt just a bit too soft under the hammer. Rockwell tested (Thanks Jim Arbuckle) out to 5. That's 2 points higher than butter :)

Definately have to throw a tool steel bit in there.

Rockwell tested some big rebar that Wayne surbier gave me at Trackrock. Tested out to Rockwell 60.

Some kind of pins that Larry brought tested out to 64. Shattered like glass and had a VERY fine grain.

Even managed to slip a few sips of some Elijah Craig in over the w/e. Really enjoyed the visit from Larry. We'll definately get some fishin done this Spring.

How was the weather Mark? I take it Larry made it home ok. We got a couple of inches of snow and ice last night. Like IG said any pics?

Added a couple of pictures to the top post. That's Jim getting the spirit, and show's the forge he made. The forge body is cast 2800 degree concrete with some type of mesh betwixt two layers. The interior has 3 inches of wool and coated with a thin layer of same concrete. I must say that I am completely sold on the little pipe burners. That big forge got up to welding heat with no problem and you can put your hand on the nozzle of the burner after running the forge all day and it was just warm.
The other pic shows Debs hair dryer being used for the air. I laughed with Jim and Larry being that the blower that I've ordered probably wont work as well :)

Had a hoot. I'd really like to get a non-agenda type hammer-in going somewhere around here. Their are quite a few of us in the area.

Larry headed out at 11. He's heading up Rt 13. Looked more like rain than anything by going East. Just a cold rain is all we had here. I feel for all the folks in Ga. 300,000 without power.

Great time. Great food. For those not there...........you mised some fun.
We didn't finish any hawks but drifted a few to be finished later. One blade was drawing as I left to go home. Guess we will see it at some time. Great idea about a regional hammer-in.
Looking forward to some fishin this spring.

Larry

Man! Sounds like fun Mark. What type of RC tester did he have? I was in the shop all weekend too ;) But you had a heck of a time my friend.
