I have three tomahawks and a couple of hatchet sheaths I need to make up, if any of you guys have anything like this could you please post a picture, I’m trying to get an idea about how to go about building these.

Here is a head cover I made for one of my hawks.

Nice, it's the one on page 7 mentioned above. I like the style, do you do the quill work?

Thanks, I've come up with a pattern making idea. I've been doing it wrong. I have no problem with gun holsters, knife sheaths, boxes and bags but the hatchet and tomahawk have caused me a few problems. I have been making my pattern too tight. I'm going to add another 1/2" and more open at the top on the style that completely encases the blade. I'll make one this week.

The edge protectors are nice and not a problem to build, fine for a tomahawk but I would rather have the hatchet completely incased with a belt loop attachment for securely lashing it down.

Thanks TStetz, that's a nice sheath, I checked out the web site and I've got a few more ideas.

I worked out at South Park for about 4 years, I miss the people of the Burgh.

Really? Did you work for the County? Thats who I work for now although I haven't done too much in South Park so far.

Yeah, just as un-skilled labor but it was a great job. If I didn't loose it in 1980 I would still be there. I lived in Lincoln Place, Bethel Park and Monongahela. My entire family lived in Pittsburgh long before it had that name. My cousin was a reporter for the Post Gazette. My mother and Father were the last generation to grow up there now we are all scattered from California to Florida.

I still have some family and friends there, I hope to visit again soon.

Florida is the usual place for Pittsburghers to migrate to  I swear they've picked up a significant porion of our population! It's kind of an annex of Allegheny County now.

Well after that last winter when I couldn't find a job I decided if I've got to wash dishes for a living might as well head south. My father and mother lived down here and I stayed with them for a few months until I got a leg up.

I did wind up washing dishes for awhile but quickly got promoted to line cook then food manager, thank God I don't have to work in a kitchen anymore.

It's a bit crude as it is my first piece of leather work ever. But here is a hawk sheath I did a while back for a spike haw that covered both striking surfaces but allowed the hawk to be drawn without having to pull the full length of the haft. Cheers an good luck to you.
