Uncle Bill gave me his permission to invite you to voice your opinions on a proposed new general discussion forum here on BF that would be dedicated to tomahawks & camp axes. General hawk/axe Q&As shows up regularly in several different forums, including here in the Cantina. Because not all questions are specific to a particular manufacturer (like nine-pound bancheros ;) ) & because the Q&As are so spread out it can be hard to find information. Please let us know what you think of the idea by visiting the thread & participating in the poll here. Thanks.

I believe a seperate forum is much needed not only to centralize information, but to also have a place where competitors products could be discussed more openly and fairly.
I am another one who doesn't think it's right to compare a different companies products on another manufacturer's forum.

It's a good plan. Now if we could only get something to compare besides the ill fated nine pound bancheros.

I would like to acquire some Hawks to compliment my khukuris- if I can find money to spare for both. Also, Hawks seem very expensive in comparison to Khukuris. Wonder why?

I'm glad you like the idea, Patrick. If you haven't already done so, please visit the poll thread, vote "yes" & tell folks why you'd like to see the new forum. Spark is being conservative regarding approval of new forums & the proposal could use all the support that it can get. ;)

As to the cost of tomahawks, while it's true that some custom & even production hawks are more expensive than most khukuris, there are also some real bargains to be found. Take a look at Doc4570's review of his H&B hawk. Doc did his throwing up at my camp & I agree 100% with his evaluation. The H&B hawks are very solidly built & are almost too good a value to pass up. (BTW, it is exactly this type of Q&A that would be perfect for the proposed forum. :D)

I have seen the HB Forge Seneca and already plan to own one, too.
:D . This would seem like a no-brainer forum topic as it is not covered anywhere else on the web that I am aware of. It would be cool if we could attract some folks knowledgable about weapon axes used throughout history. Has anyone ever read The Golden Warrior (don't remember the author)? This book is about King Harold of England and the situation leading up to the battle of Hastings. Norman spies(monks) reported that the Norman knights would be no match for King Harolds Axemen! And the knights were renowned for their toughness and proffesionalism. How were King Harold's Housecarles (personal guard) so effective fighting on foot with axes? Maybe if we had an ax forum we could find the answers to those questions. Sorry for the ramble and thanks for promoting the idea.
