HELLO I've been reading this board for a short time, And this is the first time i have posted . I'm new to the hobby of tomahawk throwing . Here is my question , What is the distance & acuracy some of you guys are getting with your tomahawk , I saw the video clip from ATC that one guy hurled that hawk fifty feet and hit his target , that was impressive. :)

I'd have to say most folks, experts included, stick to the 1 and 2 turn distances. It doesn't take a great amount of practice to start hitting playing cards at a 1 turn...at 2, you'll have to put in some hours, but not a staggering amount by any means.

The core priniciple to get there is "consistency" or "doing things the same"...grip, posture, wind-up, pitch, and follow through...provided they are done the same, the accuracy comes.

I've had the pleasure of throwing with Bobby Branton...I watched him cut a cigarette butt in half and he called it before he did it. VERY ACCURATE.

I agree with Andy...I throw competively at Rendevouzs and usually it is just a one turn throw...sometimes a 1 1/2 to hit with handle up for targets close to the ground.

I have done 75 ft, Louis B. has done well over a hundred last I heard. You have to start running to get those kinds of distances.

I defer to Mr. Prisco and the serious competition throwers on the specifics of distances. However, in my line of work, it's good to have a hawk that has a rugged, nasty spike. I try to practice for real world situations and sometimes during drills the distances are off and hawk lands differently. I don't know if it's funny or scary to see the hawk upside down in the target, the spike embedded to its base.
