hi guys,

acquired this hawk recently, any ideas on age? was squired from an auction of a collector's estate here in the UK.
seller indicated his dad who recently passed away bought it about 2-3 decades ago. no other info.

just under 20 in. haft, 8 in. wide head edge to poll. 2.75 in. edge, 670 grams weight. fat teardrop x-section haft.
steel band at the bottom fastened with square headed steel brads.

deep mark 'M' with a 5 point star over it on side of blade.

I honestly don't know what Ya got but I can tell you it's nice! Who knows mabe it has historic value...you never know if no1 else come along with an answer I'd be more than happy to help you research this hawk as I'm interested for you now!

i received a comment from the vendor when i mentioned the black cockapoo hairs, he'd just adopted it recently from a rescue agency. he said i should have been a detective.
i replied they'd soon be replaced by red fawn saluki hairs.

a true dog lover has long come to the conclusion that everything is better with dog hair on it, or in it.
sadly the truth of that only tends to come after you have lost your first dog and there is no more hair.

Sweet 'hawk. Can't say much for the maker, but I'm sure there's info on it somewhere. How much did you pay for it?

apparently less than half what the vendor's dad did. anyway, fairly expensive.

It's well made you can tell that! DNA testing could be done free( just by chance my dad owns a lab...lol) but I don't think you would get the results that would be needed or worth anything! You do however have some of the best weapon historians and I belive a few on your side of the pond who may be interested and know more too? I for 1 love your hawk and it's a great find with a mystery! Who could ask for more! I'm still looking for info for ya bud!

Is it multi-piece construction? Almost looks like it may have been forged from an old hammer back in it's day.
