Hey all,

Anyone have good tomahawk links?

Makers, books, articles, fighting styles, etc?

Thanks
Phil

Here's some links:

American Tomahawk Company

American Tomahawk Company has a forum here under the Makers and Manufacturers section.

For books on hawks, check your local libraries. I found a GREAT book at my University library on Native American hawks, written in the '70s. It has pics of over 300 hawks!

Hoplophile,

You're correct about Kali including right angle weapons like axes and hawks. An instructor from the Philippines showed me some axe/hawk techniques he had learned there. Guro Dan Inosanto also has some material for axe/hawk. He said that a few of the older native-born Filipinos would hold the hawk in reverse grip (hand near the head, shaft coming out of the top of your hand, edge facing forward just below your hand). They would use the shaft for Eskrima-type stick work and the blade for close fighting. I played with it a little but decided I'd want a shaft closer to the typical 24-30" Eskrima stick, rather than the usual 14-18" hawk shaft.

Hummmm?
Good tomahawk links that haven't already been listed?
NOPE.
No wait! Not unless the "originals", the great grandfathers, the ones that are the prototypes of all the tomahawks made today hold any interest for you?
If so, I've got one hell of a great tomahawk link fur ya.:)

Actually Tim, this is the FIRST time I have heard of your site! I just checked it briefly, and WOW! This is an addition to my hawk favorites list now. Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to your further participation in the forums too!
