I seem to remember along time ago there is a scouting hand book that list all the names and the parts of an axe if that helps

As far as I know, hawk terminology is the same for axes and such.

So, you have a shaft (the handle part!), also called a haft. That goes into the eye. The eye has a taper to it on "normal" tomahawks; I don't know what the taper is called (if it even has a name). one end of the hawk will have a blade. The sharp part of the blade is called a bit. When holding the hawk with the head up, bit facign away from you, the top part of the edge of the bit is called the toe, the other corner of the edge is called the heel. On the other end of the handle you can have nothing, or a hammer poll, or a spike. I suppose you could have anything back there, but spikes or hammer-type heads are the most common.

I'll get more nomenclature stuff for you later!
